Two homes on one lateral, one of them getting most of the backups. TSR found a root ball blocking 75% of the tie-in and burst a new line from the damaged connection to the city main.
Shared sewer laterals are uncommon but they happen, and they need careful handling: both owners have to agree on the work and on who pays. TSR documented everything up front, then ran the camera. Both homes did share one cast iron line to the street, and a large root ball at the point where the second home tied in was blocking about three-quarters of that connection. The final ten feet before the city main was old clay.
TSR burst the line from the damaged tie-in all the way to the city sewer, taking out the clay section as well, roughly 66 feet in total, and pulled in new HDPE. The neighbors split the cost and the job was complete in under two days. Both households now share a jointless pipe with no tie-in weak spot.
